Set up camera and photo printing in FotoboxShop24 Studio

STUDIO / HELP & PRACTICE Your aim is a complete photo session with sharp images, suitable flash exposure and correctly produced prints. You need a configured Studio installation, a test event, your connected camera and the suitable Windows printer driver. Have paper and ribbon ready for actual test prints. Before the event: Canon EOS 1200D and DNP RX1 have been tested in practice. This does not approve all camera or printer models; check your specific combination before the event.

1. Connect the camera and remember it as default

  1. Supply power to the camera and flash, check USB and close other camera applications such as EOS Utility.
  2. Open Camera, choose your device and select Remember as default camera.
  3. Use JPEG or RAW+JPEG for DSLR capture and check file transfer with a test photo.

After an interruption, Studio searches for the same default camera again. A new test photo is required after reconnecting. The existing bridge remains the default. Camera > Camera connection also offers Canon Direct, experimental and only with officially licensed SDK files; Canon libraries are not included.

2. Check exposure and shutter timing

  1. Under these settings, adjust Camera ISO, aperture and shutter speed to suit your setup; Apply to camera transfers the values.
  2. For flash photography, use Use auto ISO for live view and countdown. The saved capture ISO is restored before the photo.
  3. Select Test photo with flash and then Guided calibration. Assess whether the flash at the visible zero is too early, correct or too late.

Live view runs in the guest sequence before the photo session as needed and ends after the last capture. A digitally brightened preview does not change the original. Always check the saved photo.

3. Save profiles for photos and photo strips

  1. Open Printing and choose the primary and backup printers. Both may use the same Windows queue.
  2. Open Primary profile: beim vorgesehenen DNP-Aufbau 4×6-Papier und Two Inch Cut off.
  3. Open Backup profile: 4×6-Papier und Two Inch Cut on. Ordne 2×6-Vorlagen dem Ersatzdrucker zu.
  4. Select under Templates your layout and Print test copy. Physically check both formats at the printer.

4. Check cutting, limits and results

Start a cut correction with 0 mm and a fresh calibration sheet. Plus moves only text towards the shared cut edge; minus moves it outwards. Photos and backgrounds remain unchanged; the correction does not adjust a blade.

  1. Check both cut strips for margins and readability.
  2. Check under Printing the print limits for this event.
  3. Run a complete guest session including output.

5. If capture or printing gets stuck

Inform guests, cancel the session cleanly or wait for the result. Do not unplug cables during capture. Check power, USB, device status and diagnostics. For printing problems, first check paper, ribbon and the Windows queue: do not tap Print repeatedly while handoff is unclear.

Recovery option: Restore the verified connection or known profile and start a new test print. If the error persists, note the version, time, device models and exact message for support. Do not send passwords or guest data.

The finished photo is the decisive test

Do not compare only the monitor preview. Check an actual original and print with your event lighting. Check sharpness, brightness, skin tones, framing and text margins. Keep a successful test print as a reference for the setup.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a second printer for photo strips?

No. Primary and backup roles can use the same Windows queue with separate driver profiles. Whether your hardware supports the required cutting must be checked in the actual setup.

Can I copy camera settings from another photo booth?

Use them only as a starting point. Camera, lens, USB connection and lighting influence the result. Calibrate lead-in time and check exposure on your own booth.
